"A Reader"
Let other children have mindless zombie action-figures, zombie-victim action figures, pop-star action figures, and other non-too-intellectual action figures. YOUR child is a budding genuis...and a budding freedom-lover too! What better toy to give to him or her than this marvelous BEN FRANKLIN ACTION FIGURE!
When other kids, disparagingly, tell your child to: "Go Fly A Kite", your child can say, "Thanks, what a great idea -- I will!" Your child and her /his kite, can go along, and play, with the Ben Franklin action figure, and HIS included kite! Kites are not only harnessers of electricity, but also symbols of FREEDOM! There is nothing like kite-flying to give a child a sense of responsiblilty, along with a sense of freedom! For having the kite fly high in the sky, from a sting in your hand, makes a child realize that the freedom the kite is having in the sky, (and the freedom your child is having, by holding on to the string by which the kite is attacked), is matched only by the knowledge that he or she must hold TIGHT to this string, and never let it go....or the kite will disappear. It's almost like the wise saying of Thomas Jefferson, made true-to-life: "Eternal Vigilance is the Price of Freedom"(!)
Benjamin Franklin, of course, said many, (many!) wise things too -- and it would be good to get out a biography of Franklin, or a collection of his sayings, from the library, (or here on Amazon -- hint, hint!) Right now, I can only recall two of them to start off on. They are, (paraphrased): "I wish I could come back in 200 or 300 years, to see how the nation is then faring", and "Those who would trade freedom for security will wind up with neither!" (!)
Right on, Mr. Franklin!
Ben Franklin did many extraordinary things in his life -- but one that is often overlooked is that he proved that being a SENIOR Citizen does NOT have tomean being a Senile Citizen. Far from it! Franklin really did help get the message of "Liberty for ALL", through to the American people! (For futher information, see the wonderful PBS animated series, "Liberty's Kids", about three Revolutionary-War era children -- all under 17 -- who work for Ben's newspaper!)
So, whether your child wants to be a scientist, a politician, a journalist, an author, a musician, or any of the other things Benjamin Franklin managed to be during his long and fruitful life, this Action Figure of Mr. Franklin will give constant encouragement! ((If and when the "New Goverment" EVER decides to "uncover" some scandals which may or may not have occured in Franklin's life, hold fast to this toy, and whisper, "Besmirchment!" (Even the wonderous, "Liberty's Kids", though a fantasy, might be criticized, for it shows Benjamin Franklin employing child labour!) DON'T YOU BELIEVE ANY OF IT! No person is 100% perfect, after all -- but the good in Benjamin Franklin certainly overcomes any imperfections he may or may not have had. (I don't know too much about him -- but I'm sure he had SOME failings....being human, he HAD to have at least one, didn't he?)
At any rate, I hope your child enjoys this action figure -- and I hope you do, too! Why not buy 40 or 50 of them? NO tyranny can with-stand an army of Ben Franklins! (As he also said: "We must all hang together, or most assuredly, we will all hang separately!")
Courage!

Historical Action FigureFeb 10, 2011
By T. M. Sowell Ben Franklin figure was for my daughter, who collects them. She does not take them out of the packaging. My review is based on the first one she got that she did remove. Held up pretty well.
