One of the most fun games you can ever play!Oct 29, 2007
By J. Brooks Apples to Apples is just way too fun. Whether you are playing it with kids, adults, or both, you will enjoy it.
The thing I like the most about the game is that it's fast paced, never boring, and doesn't take an hour or two to play most games only last 20-30 minutes TOPS!
On a side note about the expansion sets that are available for the game, the original "Core Game" and its expansions have been retired and replaced by the "Party Box". The "Party Box" contains the entire collection of cards from the original "Core Game" plus the "Core" expansion sets 1 & 2.
The "Party Box Expansion 1" contains cards from the third and fourth "Core" expansions, and a "Party Box Expansion 2" contains all new cards.
I know I had a hard time trying to figure out all of the different versions and expansions, so hopefully this will help somebody out there.

Excellent Game!!!!!!!!!!!!Dec 06, 2005
Wow. This game is an ingenius idea! Why didn't I think of it? For those who love a good, fun, educational, durable, perfect game, try Apples to Apples! It doesn't matter if you get the Junior edition or Party Box expansion - they're all great editions of my favorite game. If you haven't played Apples to Apples, you need to play NOW. The game play is basic and simple - you don't have to be the smartest person in class to figure out how to play! For anyone any age, try Apples to Apples - I've even seen a three year old play!
Basically, the judge, which everyone gets a chance to be, hands everyone five cards. Then, the judge lays a green card down in the center. Each player looks through their cards, which they don't show to anyone, and lays down one card of theirs facedown that fits the adjective of the green card. The judge doesn't lay a card down. Then, the judge turns the cards up and chooses the most creative card that fits the adjective. At the end of the game, whoever has the most green cards wins.
Try it today, or you're seriously missing out.

Disappointed overall in this expansion setJan 06, 2008

We love our Apples to Apples party box and were excited to add this expansion pack to it. However my family was disappointed overall in this set because most of the cards are combos containing ampersands. For example noun cards include fame & fortune, bells & whistles, arm & a leg, etc. Adjective cards include plump & tender, hail and hearty, rough & ready, hit & miss, fast & furious, etc. My teenagers were especially annoyed by these cards because many of them are just so vague. We've tried to mix them together with the cards in the party box so that nobody gets an entire handful of them again (lots of moans when that occurred) but it'll take some time to get them all evenly distributed. I hope that expansion set 2 does not contain so many cards of this type and I'll ask around to make sure before I purchase it.

The Perfect Party GameJan 07, 2006

You'd have to look hard to find a better party game than this. First of all, it's very easy to play--the rules are so simple that anyone can learn to play it. Second of all, it really gets everyone who is playing to talk and joke around. The set is made up of red cards and green cards. The green cards have adjectives on them and they players then try to choose the best match from the red cards, which have nouns on them, in their hand. Of course, everyone will have a different opinion, so the fun begins.
I bought this recently and tried it out at several parties, and it was a great success. In fact, it was difficult to get people to stop playing. And to make it even better, some blank cards are included, so you can add some of your own ideas to personalize the game. If you don't have this, you really need to pick it up. You'll love it if you do.

Bad & WorseDec 27, 2010
By joelthesecond Our whole family loves Apples to Apples! We know each others' judging tendencies, so know whether to select a literal or metaphoric parallel, or a funny or ironic card. We passionately argue our positions or we pander, whichever wins the round.
We were excited for this expansion pack, having played our other cards into predictability. But these are so awful! My wife described using them as being on 'a forced march'. Most of the cards are pairs of words, e.g., Surf & Turf, Chicken & the Egg, The Birds and Bees, which are virtually worthless juxtaposed against their supposed counterparts: Dazed and Confused, Bright and Shining, Short and Stout. Mom, Dad, two college-age daughters and a middle school son all thought the expansion pack to be worse than irritating.
We are so disappointed, because the original cards are so creative.
