We love the Schleich animals!Sep 02, 2006
By Corbu My 3-year old (boy) and 18-month old (girl) absolutely love their Schleich animals and can literally play with them for hours on end. They're wonderfully detailed (even anatomically correct), have a good amount of heft to them, beautifully painted and are a superb quality. These are inexpensive enough that I don't have a problem with using them as bribes for good behavior- hey; it's better than candy! These encourage the kids to use their imaginations, create stories, and ask questions about wildlife- it's awesome! We have other plastic animals and they simply don't compare to the craftsmanship of a Schleich. My son will be getting a lot of new animals for his birthday this year and I know he'll be thrilled. The kids play with these more than their toys with all the bells and whistles (and noise, and batteries) and I feel like they're getting more out of them, too.
SAFETY DISCLAIMER: These are not baby toys! If it weren't for the fact that my daughter has an older brother, I wouldn't buy them for her. Some of the animals are very small and if you have a baby, toddler or preschooler that's very oral you might want to think twice about purchasing these and get something larger and safer.
