3It's a LongshotDec 29, 2006

Here we have another build a figure series from Marvel Legends. Longshot goes with the Mojo theme well as he was genetically created by Mojo for entertainment of the enslaved masses of Mojoworld. He also is an on again off again X-man so fits in with that bunch as well.

The body sculpt is fine but not very visually interesting. Longshot's body is basic and all black so there wasn't much to do about that. I was happy that each hand does only have 4 fingers, not 5, which is correct. The face sculpt is fine but he does have one monster of a mullet. The paint application is OK but again he's mostly black clothes. The only issues I had were that paint on his giant mullet was actually stuck to his big 80's collar so that when I turned his head for the first time a strip of paint ripped off the back of his head and there is a chip of off one of his cheeks so I pretend it's a pimple. Watch out on the paint job. He really doesn't have accessories. He is holding three throwing razors in one havd but they are attached and his belt and bag are separate pieces but don't come off.

He comes with his comic, the back of the package doubles as a back drop and one half of the spider base of Mojo. Mojo himself is a mix of good and bad. The paint and sculpt on his body is great with spot on skin tones and the electronics coming out of his head look great. His spider base, however, is very plain and lacks much of the detail you'll see pictured on the back of the package and has a very bland and featureless paint job. It also lacks any real articulation other than the legs being able to turn right where they connect to the base. Maybe this was to help it stand better, but here's the rub... Only four of the six legs are actually designed to touch the floor and due to their thin spidery nature they begin to bend under Mojo's excessive flab. I'm sure some ingenuity on my part can correct the problem, but we really shouldn't have to fix new figures now should we. It's a mixed bag on the Mojo.

Longshot is a cool character. And his name makes his abilities quite clear. He's lucky and a dead-eye with a his throwing knives. This fully poseable (and then some) figure is very detailed. But its major flaw is his realistic body scale. He has a really hard time standing on his own, and without the natural equilibrium of humans, and the ability to spread apart his legs a little more, you need a really stable surface if you want to keep him standing.

Still, Longshot is really cool and one of my favorites. His clothes, face and hair are incredibly detailed, and the comic book is very engaging.

p.s. don't collect all the pieces of the build-a-figure if you don't like ugly things.

The figure arrived as scheduled. everything was fine. however it seems as though my figures left arm is defective. you couldn't notice until it was taken out of package. i don't blame the retailer. overall it was an ok figure. i will do business with them in the future.

long shot is okay. for someone who is collecting to add to his or her display. i would recommend more recent and better detail figures. if its for your kids thats fine.
