3Psyc Out PsylockeDec 29, 2006
By D Strick "Entertainment D"
Here we have another build a figure series from Marvel Legends. Psylocke is another of those psychics or telepaths on the X teams but has the addition of a psychic knife which she can stab into opponents to overload their brains. How does the figure measure up?

Not too well unfortunately. The body sculpt is fine. She has a trim figure. The face sculpt suffers from the stepford wife syndrome and has very little character. I'd expect a tough gal like this to have a more determined look to her. She does look similar to the cover of the book included but keep in mind that this is not the original cover of that book but was made specifically to go with this figure. She looks much tougher inside the book. The paint application is very sloppy as well on the figure I have. The blue bands on her legs bleed over onto her legs quite a bit and the neck line of her top if very sloppy on mine. Keep an eye on the paint if you pick yours up in person. She comes with no personal accessories which is disappointing. She could have at least come with one crummy psychic knife. Oh, well.

She comes with her comic, the back of the package doubles as a back drop and the middle stomach (a/k/a love handles) of Mojo. Mojo himself is a mix of good and bad. The paint and sculpt on his body is great with spot on skin tones and the electronics coming out of his head look great. His spider base, however, is very plain and lacks much of the detail you'll see pictured on the back of the package and has a very bland and featureless paint job. It also lacks any real articulation other than the legs being able to turn right where they connect to the base. Maybe this was to help it stand better, but here's the rub... Only four of the six legs are actually designed to touch the floor and due to their thin spidery nature they begin to bend under Mojo's excessive flab. I'm sure some ingenuity on my part can correct the problem, but we really shouldn't have to fix new figures now should we. It's a mixed bag on the Mojo.

2Marvel Legends: PsylockeMar 23, 2010
By Hound Dog
From the pages of Marvel's numerous "X-Men" comic books comes their resident psychic ninja, Elisabeth Braddock, aka Psylocke. Despite her rather convoluted back story, Psylocke remains one of the team's most popular members having recently received her own limited series. Hence, a Marvel Legend action figure featuring one of the most stellar female X-Men members was an ideal choice, as the promotional photo clearly suggests.

However, there is a big difference between the glamorous-looking figure seen in the promotional photo vs. what the actual figure really is. While the photo and the actual figure look basically one and the same from a distance, make no mistake: due to poor paint application, the facial features on the actual figure are pretty much terrible (as if her make-up had been left on overnight). Suffice to say, it is a sub-par imitation of the photo at best. Further, I noticed that the figure's blue uniform paint job bleeds on to her legs. Unfortunately, the figure's overall appearance is a letdown.

As for accessories, no psychic blades are included, but Psylocke does come with an "X-Men" comic book featuring one of her more notable appearances, as well as a piece (a stomach, I think) to Build-Your-Own-Mojo (which is something that I could have lived without).

My last comment is about the figure's durability. I noticed that this Psylocke figure can not stand up by itself, and also that its somewhat shoddy construction probably isn't suitable for a child's play time. I suspect that a young child could easily damage at least one of the figure's joints without trying too hard, so that leaves this figure with really just a display-only option.

All in all, the figure is a decent investment for collectors at a reasonable price, but just beware that the promotional photo promises more than what you will receive.

Rating: 4.5/10 (One of Marvel Legends' lesser efforts)

2Going with Strick D on this one, for the most part.Dec 02, 2009
By K. English "Marvel Man"
Hey there! Just thought I'd give an objective take for everyone considering making a purchase of the Mojo Series Psylocke. I've been collecting Marvel Legends figures for around three years now, so I figure it wouldn't hurt to have one more opinion on the market.

Now, Toy Biz made some pretty bad figures in the past (Scarlet Mitch, anyone?), but it seems this entire WAVE (sans Luke Cage) was pretty much set for failure from the get-go. I agree with Strick D's review on almost all aspects. The figure is slim and articulated, but incredibly lackluster. The paint seems to have simply been slapped on, as the blue bleeds into the flesh in many place on EVERY model I've seen, and the figure is hard to get to stand upright at all (because we ALL know ninjas wear high-heels, right? Especially the sneaky ones.) If you're a die-hard X-men fan or Jim Lee-era fan and you feel you ABSOLUTELY NEED to have a Psylocke figure, then by all means grab this one (or go to a local Toys R Us or other store, which probably has them on clearance.) Otherwise, pass this one up, and let it die in silence.

Hope this helps!
