Not a big figureAug 07, 2010
By Kelly L Perozo Two separate reviews stated how HUGE this dino figure is but my daughter and laughed when this tiny package arrived at our door step. It is only 5 inches long and super light. The listing is a bit confusing since under product details it described as "5.5 x 1.2 x 2 inches ; 12 ounces" but then under product description the manufacture describes it as "Item size in centimeters (L x W x H): 51.4 x 10.0 x 15.4." which would make it 20inches long. We are disappointed since we were really looking forward to the huge dino as stated in the reviews. Original price was [...] so I assumed it was for a big figure! No booklet or human figure accompanied this dino either. Since shipping to Hawaii was over $8 we won't send it back but won't order again.

One of the HEAVY DinosApr 22, 2009
By Anne B. Schofield I knew this dinosaur would be heavy and large due to the description on Amazon, but I was still surprised. It is heavy! And HUGE. We have many of the Schleich animals, as well as the Schleich Dinosaur Nature set, and the Apatosaurus is much much bigger than any of them. It comes with a little info booklet (in several languages) which shows you where fossils have been found, how big it was compared to an adult human, how much it weighed, etc. Based on this info, I think it is to scale in relation to the other Schleich animals, despite being in its own "replica saurus" series. But since it was such a big dinosaur, it looks too big compared to the others, and is a little hard to play with for younger kids. My kids are 5 and 2.5, and they can carry it around, but mostly prefer to use the other animals around and under it. They really like it though, despite how heavy it is. I think it makes it more realistic - it is much more heavy than the adult cheetah because in real life that would be true too, even though they were not alive at the same time. Finally, the picture on Amazon seems to show a dull gray dinosaur without much detailing. The Apatosaurus we received is a beautiful deep greenish blue color with vertical black stripes. This would look great simply displayed on a shelf. I don't think I personally would pay full retail price for this since I am not an avid collector, but we got it on sale and have no regrets buying it.

ConfusionApr 26, 2011
By Andy Above reviewers are clearly confusing two differently scaled Apatosaurus figures from Schleich. The large figure is from the "replica series" and it is BIG. The second is the standard figure which is much smaller. There is also a significant price variance between these two offerings. Whichever you choose, these are awesome figures to be revered by young and old alike.

big dinoDec 08, 2009
By bizzymom I didn't pay enough attention to the dimensions in the description, and this dino is much bigger than I anticipated. Not that my 3-year-old is complaining! We received the old model, with more colorful markings, which also is fine (price was greatly reduced), though those looking for the newer version might want to double-check before ordering.

By K. Pooley Extremely durable, hours of fun. Our 4 yr old loves all of her schliech animals and though I thought they were expensive at first I'm so glad that we paid the money, they are the best set of plastic animals you could ever own. We take them in the bath and never have to worry that water will get in them and mold, we take them to the park, we plow them through mud in our backyard and they have held up for the last 2yrs perfectly. Great buy for any animal lover.
